Rafter Ships Welded Profile Squeeze Box09-09

Strongsville, Ohio, USA, October 9, 2009 – Rafter Equipment has shipped a new RT-2000S five (5) roll weld squeeze box specifically designed for the high-frequency induction welded profile or “direct-weld” roll forming industry. Although the company has made other weld boxes for profile applications in the past, this new box includes many features previously not found all in one design.

The new weld box utilizes a design that pushes all the weld (or forge) rolls on the centerline of the adjustment. This feature allows for greater squeeze pressure than comparably sized cantilevered designs. In addition, the squeeze adjustment is achieved through independent worm-screw jacks. Not only does this design require less torque to make the adjustments, it also allows for precise adjustment of each roll individually. Individual adjustment is especially useful for light walled, high-strength steel applications where material spring-back is a concern. Additionally, there is more freedom of adjustment when producing asymmetrical profiles.

The simple construction makes it easy to engineer a solution for virtually any profiled shape. An optional removable sub-plate makes it possible to utilize multiple configurations (i.e., 3-roll, 4-roll, or 5-roll) on a single mounting frame. The sub-plate feature also facilitates offline setups and expedites roll changeovers.
